Ella was born on April 19, 1935, in Mansfield, Louisiana, to John Dunn and Corrine Dunn. She was one of eleven children—a cherished daughter, sister, and eventually a matriarch in her own right.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Gladys Dunn and Eva Dunn; her brothers, Thomas Dunn (Bubba), Moses Dunn, and Johnny Dunn; three of her children, Michael Strange, Derrick Strange, and Sandra Strange; and her granddaughter, Yalanda Strange.

On June 29, 1952, Ella married the love of her life, Reverend Timothy Strange Jr. As a devoted wife, mother, and sister, she faithfully walked beside him for 73 years. Together, they raised a family and built a legacy of faith, love, and service. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Timothy Strange Jr.; her sisters, Margaret Harris and Ruth Bryant; her children, Ronnie Strange, Marilyn Strange, and Chauncey Strange; her son-in-law, Reggie Barmore; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Strange; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Just this past June 29, 2025, she and Reverend Strange celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary—a living testimony of enduring love.

Legacy and Remembrance

Ella’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her. With unwavering dedication, she created a stable, nurturing home, instilling in her children and grandchildren the importance of family values and walking hand in hand with the Lord, even through the most difficult times.

As First Lady, her grace, strength, and hospitality were widely known. She selflessly placed the needs of others above her own—offering prayers, hosting fundraisers, running a candy store for the neighborhood children on the bottom floor of her home, and overseeing all of the Sunday school activities at church.

Ella was not only an amazing housewife but also a gifted cook. As First Lady and role model, she carried herself with elegance and dignity—always dressed to perfection, embodying beauty both inside and out.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF FIRST LADY

Her life reflected the truth of Proverbs 31:27–29:

“She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’”

Ella shielded her family from the challenges of the world and faithfully supported Reverend Strange by quietly managing the behind-the-scenes work of his congregations. Though her sacrifices were not always seen by people, they were always seen and honored by God.

Ella’s life was a radiant testament to God’s faithfulness. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in

knowing that she has taken her well-deserved seat at the side of our Lord. Amen.
